Your Flexible Friend

I've rediscovered the joys of yoga. Okay, so it's been five years, but luckily I still seem to be pretty bendy. And let's just ignore how much I'm aching shall we?

I'm still very confused about the whole MySpace thing. I seem to have missed the point somehow. And considering how many "Why aren't you on MySpace?" emails I keep getting, it's amazing how few of you have applied to be my 'friend'...

It's things like this that make me realise how much of neo-luddite I am - seriously! I may have a laptop, but I don't know how to use half the features that make it so expensive. And don't even get me started on mobile phones...

So I'm sort of on strike. It's yoga and books and sleep for me, and sod all this technology!

Exhaustion, Irritation and Reality TV

I've spent the last couple of days in bed. Somehow I've caught the latest bug going around, which my doctor describes as 'contagious exhaustion' - basically I feel fine, except that even standing up makes me feel like I need a little sleep to recover from the exertion. This wasn't helped by spending Monday traveling to and from meetings an hour and half away, and Tuesday travelling back and forth from a meeting three hours away. Both 12 hours days - great idea when you're ill. After all, what could be embarrassing about fainting on a train and having to be caught by some poor stranger?!

Anyway, feeling a bit better tonight, so have the strength for my other complaints: what the hell has happened to daytime TV? I swear it was much better when I was a student! Okay, maybe it wasn't, but I'm sure it wasn't this irritating! I'm ill, for heaven's sake, I'm not looking for profound intellectual broadcasting, just something vaguely engaging, but that seems to have vanished...

... and been replaced by reality TV. On which point I must make a plea: please, please, please can this be the end of Jade Goody's 'career'? Please? It's not that I necessarily believe she's a racist, other than in that ingrained British way that so many people seem to be (not excusing it, just defining it), it's more that she is SO BLOODY ANNOYING!!!! And I'm not even watching Big Brother - I'm watching the NEWS and she's driving me mad! That's when you know someone's really irritating!

I do wonder, though, how long it'll be before Big Brother have to start giving the contestants guns etc to keep it interesting. If you haven't seen The Contenders I recommend it - we're heading that way and it's pretty scary when you think about it...

I readily admit this is a random post, but it's my blog, and I'm suffering from contagious exhaustion, so you have to forgive me...

Replaced By a Younger Model

Freda, my beloved laptop, finally died just before Christmas. Much as I tried hard to resurrect her, and indeed went into denial and claimed that she was ‘just warming up’ when she’d been dead and blank for two hours, I finally had to accept that she was gone.

So, after a short period of mourning, she had to replaced. Brutal I know, but that’s how things are when it comes to computers (regardless of how much personality one might ascribe to them).

Last night therefore saw me braving the hell of PC World in order to have a blind date with Emmett, aka Compaq C310 (catchy!). Luckily Emmett and I hit it off immediately, and I asked him to come home with me. And so, ladies and gents, I would like to formally introduce you to Emmett - silver skinned laptop, wireless internet guru, and master of digital media. Named, of course, for the legendary Emmett ‘Doc’ Brown of Back to the Future - very clever but slightly unstable (true of most computers, non?)…

So, despite a 2 hour relationship counselling session tonight with a very nice counsellor based in Mumbai to cure Emmett’s aversion to connecting to wireless broadband, so far my new relationship is going rather well. I even bought him a red neoprene all-in-one for travelling and a memory stick (hang on, do they do a human version? Because I think He could do with one, especially if I could programme in my birthday and our anniversary…)

Most importantly, however, the good news: Emmett should allow me to blog from in front of the telly in the evenings so you can enjoy my company more often! Well, I hope that’s good news…

Out With the Old...

...and in with the new. From January 2007 you can find me at

Drama Queen III

Why? Several reasons:

1. I'm not really a newlywed anymore (2 years and counting...)
2. V2 is getting a bit unwieldy
3. I like a fresh start every now and again

(You know you must be mad when you find yourself needing to justify your reasons for doing something to a bunch of strangers...)

Hope you enjoy the new blog,

Mookmoo xx
