Chop Chop

I had a haircut last night.

It looks nice. I actually think I like it.

However I am a rather annoyed that I've had six inches chopped off of my rapunzelesque locks, plus some 'face framing' layers round the front, and no one has noticed...

The Week That Was

Phew. It's been one hell of a week. So, a quick update.

Cornwall was great. Lots of blue skies and sunshine and sandy beaches. Also, lots of beer, wine, and barbecued lumps of charcoal (I think at one point these lumps were chicken, or maybe burgers, or maybe potatoes. But it's hard to tell by the time Him and PianoMan have finished with them...)

However, lovely weekend though it was, it did serve to prove to me once again that I am too much of a convenience-addicted city girl to ever live out in the country. After just three days, the absence of shoe shops, places selling hair gunk, and mobile phone signal was already beginning to get to me...

Anyway, back in the real world on Tuesday, I was stunned to be told that the big promotion interviews had been brought forward to Thursday. Still, if you see my posts from yesterday you'll see it all turned out rather well...

Apart from all the job stuff, two other significant things happened this week: He and I passed our 4 year anniversary on 21st, and it's our 18 month wedding anniversary today. Hurrah for us!

So basically, apart from the hangover from last night's champagne and pink wine extravaganza, things are pretty good.

Bizarre, huh?

And the Winner Is...

I got the job!

And a nice fat payrise.

Snakes and Career Ladders

I've got the interview for the big promotion this afternoon.

I've spent the morning so far trying not to throw up. I'm hoping they'll be so fascinated by my green face that they won't listen to my crap answers.

I Want to Go to the Seaside

Me, Him and PianoMan are off to Cornwall this weekend, to stay at PianoMan's parents' place that they're doing up for their retirement.

The house is ideally placed between the beach and the pub in a teeny tiny little village between Newquay and Padstow. We've been to the same area a couple of times before, and I can't wait to run around on the big empty beach and spend hours sitting in the pub garden.

We're leaving tonight and not coming back til Monday. Hurrah! Three days of sun (hopefully), sea and sand.

I already know I won't want to come home.

Go Angola!

So, in the World Cup sweepstake at work, I've drawn Angola. But rather than be discouraged by their 750/1 odds of winning the tournament, I've decided to become a proper supporter, and back them all the way.

So, for those of you who are interested, you can find out all about Angola here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/country_profiles/1063073.stm

The Sun Has Got His Hat On

Just went to Boots and bought two bottles of sun lotion. Obviously it will now start raining.

Surfing the Crimson Wave

Urgh. I still feel like shit, but now it's because I am becursed, and my sodding back hurts. So you're not going to get a let up from my whining just yet.

Life is a bit odd at the moment. A lot of things are changing, and although most are probably for the better, it's all a bit disconcerting.

If everything goes the way that we want it to, within three or four months I should have a new job (I'm up for a promotion), a new car (April really is dying), and a new home (thanks to the new salary). And He is looking about for a new job too, which usually means he'll find one.

This is all good, in a way, but it's all happening at once, and that's kind of scary.

Also, it means we're still in Essex (for a bit) and that's always a bit of a dodgy trade off. Hence the moving house to a (hopefully) nicer part of town.

The problem is, I'm not sure I'm ready to finally surrender and be a grown up with a proper career, a car that isn't falling apart, and a house that isn't part of an ex-council-estate with dodgy neighbours and a lot of car theft.

But being a grown up doesn't mean I have to give up on having adventures, does it? After all, the greatest perk of all about the new job would be being able to save for The Big Trip again...

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn

I am so tired.

LotusMomma's visit is over, but two packed weekends with her and very little privacy or sleep have taken their toll.

I could honestly just lay my head on my keyboard and go to sleep.

Except that I'm up for this promotion, so I'm having to look awake and motivated.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn.

News Headlines

I've been a bit too busy to blog lately, so here are the current news headlines from the world of Mookmoo:

I am up for a mega promotion at work. Watch this space...

This weather is making me depressed. It's supposed to be spring!

I need a haircut, but it is surprisingly hard to find anyone to recommend a good salon, and I'm too paranoid to just take a chance.

LotusMomma was here last weekend, and will be back again tomorrow. I love her, but the woman is driving me slightly insane. I need some peace and quiet on my weekends, dammit, and I'm not getting any for another whole week!

I am obsessed with knickers from Accessorize, to the point where I just ordered £20 worth online because I've bought all the designs in my teeny local branch and I still want more!

We are going on a midweek mini-break to Paris in just over 7 weeks, and I'm already excited.

I got paid on Wednesday and feel temporarily rich.

See, nothing too exciting. You're not missing anything when I don't blog for a while...
